is professor of Legal History, Ecclesiastical Law, Legal Theory and Private Law at the University of Zurich. His research focuses on the history of canon law in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern period, the entanglements between time and law, and the history of finance. He is member of the editorial board of the "Zeitschrift für Rechtsgeschichte" and the "forum historiae iuris".
